The Roma and Ivory Coast is not convinced that he deserved the punishment handed out by the referee during their draw vs Guinea. Ultimately, 10-man IVC could only regster a draw in the game.

After handicapping his side's ability to record three points vs Guinea by getting sent off, Roma and Ivory Coast forward Gervinho does not think he deserved his punishment. Speaking to the press in the aftermath of the game, the fleet-footed winger expressed his dismay at having been sent off and his hope that he would not have to sit for too long on the sidelines.

“I hope I will only miss one game,” Gervinho told RFI after their 1-1 stalemate in Malabo."

“The red card is not logical, it was not deserved. He (Naby Keita) stomped on my foot. I was surprised."

"I wanted to make a gesture to say “stop it!” and off went my hand. I am very disappointed with the referee’s decision as I could have contributed a lot to the team."

"However, I am happy because my teammates saved my match, the team and the whole country.”

After only recording a point from a game the Elephants were expected to grab all three points from, IVC fans will have all the reason to get apprehensive over their country's AFCON 2015 future especially with more tough opposition coming up.

Can Toure and co. turn their fortunes around? Only time will tell.
