Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was left unhappy after the Argentine was called in to be given urine and blood tests for an anti-doping test.
The 27-year-old, who recently became the all-time highest scorer in the Catalan derby with a hat-trick against Espanyol on Sunday, was one of five Blaugrana stars to be chosen by the Spanish Agency for the Protection of Health for a routine anti-doping test.
So why exactly was the four-time Ballon d'Or winner left unpleased? Out of all the players picked by the Spanish Agency for the Protection of Health, which included the likes of Andrés Iniesta, Claudio Bravo, Ivan Rakitic and Jordi Alba, La Pulga was the only one asked to hand in urine and blood samples.
The Albiceleste captain later called the whole situation “odd”, stating on his Instagram account:
"Doping test day. Of the five chosen, I was the only one given urine and blood tests. Bit odd isn't it?"
Messi will be in action in the Champions League this week, as Luis Enrique crew welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Camp Nou on Wednesday, with the Catalan giants looking to wrestle away top spot from the Ligue 1 champions and finish ahead of Laurent Blanc's men in Group F.
