The Manchester City midfielder believes the Argentine is in the same bracket with the Liga BBVA superstars, whilst claiming there are no better strikers in the world at this moment.

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard, on loan from Major League Soccer side New York City FC, claims Argentine striker Sergio Aguero is “right up there” with La Liga stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The Chelsea legend made these comments about Aguero after the Citizens ace fired his team to a 3-2 home win over Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, registering an impressive hat-trick, keeping Manuel Pellegrini's men's hopes of making the round of 16 alive.

Currently top of the English Premier League goalscoring charts with 12 goals, Lampard argued that the 26-year-old La Albicelest ace boasts qualities in the same bracket as Ronaldo and Messi.

"I think it’s in his hands," Lampard stated. "It's a big call to make. Ability-wise, from seeing him at close quarters, he's in that bracket.

"If he can carry on with this form, doing it week-in and week-out, which he is doing, then people will talk about him in the same breath as them.

"I haven't been fortunate enough to play with those two - I've admired them from afar - but, in terms of ability, he's certainly right up there."

The former England star, who retired from the Three Lions back in August, insisted none out there currently is better at scoring than the former Atletico Madrid man. However, despite this, Lampard remained adamant that the best he has ever seen is former team-mate Didier Drogba, who in his prime, “was the greatest”.

"[Aguero]'s top of the world football strikers," the 36-year-old. "When you have people like that, it makes things easier because Sergio takes the majority of his chances - he took every one of his chances against Bayern.

"World-class strikers help you win games, win points and go through. I'm fortunate enough to have played with Didier Drogba, who, for me, was the greatest [striker], but it's very hard to compare those two because their style is so different.

"But in terms of pure finishing, electric pace, in my first few days training here my friends and other people were asking 'who does this or that in training?' and I said 'this Aguero is just different class'. He's proved that. He can't stop scoring."
