Dynamo’s first-choice goalkeeper is set to miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL in his right knee.

Tally Hall will miss the rest of the 2014 MLS season after picking an ACL injury during the team’s 3-1 win against Sporting Kansas City last Friday. The club confirmed the news on Wednesday and the player will undergo surgery on Friday. Hall is expected to miss between six to nine months of action.

Since he signed with Dynamo in 2009, the 29-year-old has made 129 appearances for the club, becoming one of the most regular goalkeepers in the MLS. He took over as the first-choice goalkeeper in 2011 and has only missed two MLS matches since.

Regarding how the injury happened, Hall commented:

“I go down and it’s kind of funny because the first thing I do is hold my knee and I’m thinking ‘Try to move it, try to stand on it’ which isn’t recommended by any doctor.

“Brad [Davis] was there and he said, ‘Stay down.’ I looked at him and said, ‘It could be serious’ and he said ‘That’s why you should stay down.’

“You’re in the game and you want to do everything to stay in the game and keep fighting. I went to plant off it and go forward, and my knee felt like it had enough.”

With respect to his recovery time, the goalkeeper mentioned:

“I’ve never had an injury like this before so I don’t know.

“I don’t want to miss any games; I don’t want to miss a game this weekend. I don’t want to miss a game next year but I want to be smart about it and come back fitter and stronger than I was before.”

At least Hall took his injury with humor as he expressed the following on Twitter.
