After seeing their chances of signing Lukas Podolski collapse, the Serie A champions have now earmarked the Mexican as the ideal attacker to bring to Turin

Serie A champions Juventus have made an inquiry into the availability of Manchester United's Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.

The Italian giants have long been rumored with a move for Chicharito, with Atletico Madrid also believed to be keen on the 26-year-old, but "The Old Lady" now appear ready to lodge a bid for Hernandez. 

The Mexican striker signed for the Red Devils back in 2010 but has seen himself fall down the pecking order since Robin van Persie's 2012 Old Trafford arrival. Despite making 24 appearance in the 2013-14 season (per ESPN FC), El Tri forward only managing four goals.

According to the Daily Mail, Massimiliano Allegri's side were interested in bringing Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski to Turin, but after seeing Olivier Giroud pick up a worrying injury against Everton, Wenger has called off the sale of the German.

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is believed to be willing to let Hernandez walk out the door, with the intention of using him in a deal to lure Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal to the Theatre of Dreams. 

The Dutchman has long been after Juventus' 27-year-old star, and after securig the services of Argentine ace Angel Di Maria for £59.7m, Van Gaal looks to make a last gasp move to sign the Chilean before the transfer window shuts close in September 2.
