The Blues worry over Didier Drogba as the Ivorian striker picked up an injury less than a week before the 2014-15 English Premier League season begins

Chelsea fans were given a scare on Sunday when the London side took on Hungarian club Ferencvaros in a pre-season friendly as the Blues wrap up their preparation for the upcoming English Premier League season, kicking off their campaign with an away visit to Burnley on the August 18.

Ivorian ace and Blues forward Didier Drogba suffered an injury scare after he twisted his ankle during the first half of the game.

Drogba, who returned to Stamford Bridge on a one-year deal after spells at Shanghai Shenhua and Galatasaray, was forced off the pitch after only 30 minutes.

This may come as bad news to Jose Mourinho's men who cashed in on Romelu Lukaku, selling the Belgian ace to fellow English Premier League side Everton for £28m, and Senegalese attacker Demba Ba who left Chelsea for Turkish side Besiktas.

The 36-year-old Chelsea player, though, remained hopeful over a speedy recovery, telling the club's official website:

"I twisted my ankle and I couldn't continue."

"In the next few days we are going to do some treatment and I hope everything will be better."
