After suffering a muscle contracture during Italy's training session, Mattia De Sciglio was ruled out of the game against England, but not the World Cup

Today, Mattia De Sciglio, ended the training session with Italy early, to go to the hospital after he suffered a discomfort to his left leg. AC Milan’s left-back however, merely suffered a muscle contracture and will not have to be subbed.

The Italian defender though, will miss the game against England on Saturday and, after what happened to Riccardo Montolivo, the Italian national team takes the news with positivity. In fact, the Italians know that it could have been worse.

Mattia De Sciglio is a promising Italian defender and will be crucial for Italy during the World Cup

Had the injury been more serious, Prandelli would have had to call Ranocchia. FIFA rules would have allowed Italy to operate the substitution until tomorrow at midnight, when the deadline will expire.

Italy’s team doctor, Enrico Castellacci, explained:

“Defender Mattia De Sciglio, after today's (Thursday) training session in Portobello (Mangaritiba), has sustained a muscle strain in his left thigh. De Sciglio will not be available for the first game against England.”

Though not on the list, Ranocchia is in Manaus with Italy ready to replace any injured defender
