The former German international has slammed the 25-year-old for his showings both with Arsenal, and more important, with the national squad recently.

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil now has a new critic--former German international Michael Ballack.

The ex-midfielder feels that the 25-year-old's performances have dipped since making a record setting €50 million move from Real Madrid to the Emirates.

Despite accumulating seven goals and double the number of assists, Ozil has often been condemned in many quarters, with quite a few people deeming his debut season in the Premier League as a failure.

And now his compatriot has added his voice to the critics.

"He has done well for Germany and he played well during the qualifying campaign," he noted to the Daily Star.

Decline: Ozil has been heavily criticized for "not performing" in some of Arsenal's biggest games

"But in the last few months - since his move to Arsenal - he has not been the same player, in terms of his confidence, that we used to see in the national team."

What was more disconcerting for the former player, though, was Ozil's showing during die Mannschaft's draw with Cameroon in a friendly clash recently.

"I saw him play for the national team at the weekend and I was not surprised, not scared, but a little bit concerned, by his performance".
