For many Milan followers, this latest change on the managerial bench will probably not come as a surprise.

After Massimiliano Allegri was finally dismissed following the Rossoneri's humiliation at the hands of Sassuolo, former player Clarence Seedorf took over in a move that surprised quite a few observers, as he had zero managerial experience prior to assuming the role.

Nonetheless, the change appeared to be hailed by most of the squad, most notably mercurial striker Mario Balotelli, who shortly after the Dutchman's appointment expressed his support for the player who won two UCL titles during his time at the club.

However, the feeling was always that the ex-midfielder was just serving as a placeholder until a more suitable candidate came along, and certain football personalities have long been floated in the press as the one to take over for the 2014-2015 season.

Seedorf's former teammate and legendary striker Pippo Inzaghi has been associated with taking over on the Diavolo bench since his retirement, and after two successful seasons with Milan's youth squads, has now been announced as the team's new coach following the termination of the former midfielder's contract.
