Dubai Sports 1 History, Coverage, Features
Dubai Sports 1 is an Arabian television channel owned and operated by Dubai Media Incorporated. The channel was launched in 1998 as a vehicle to broadcast domestic sports competitions, but it would eventually evolve to an international channel by adding tournaments from all over the globe.
Over the years, Dubai Sports 1 has covered a large variety of disciplines, which have included football, tennis, triathlon, motorsports, volleyball, golf, and swimming competitions. Added to those, this channel has also earned the right to broadcast multi-sport events such as different editions of the Summer Olympics.
Speaking of football, Dubai Sports 1 has made a name for itself by covering tournaments such as the UAE Pro League, the I-League, the J1 League, and the KNVB Cup. When it comes to national team tournaments, Dubai Sports 1 has been able to add content related to the Arabian Gulf Cup, among other tournaments.
Dubai Sports 1 broadcasts its content in Standard Definition, although a High-Definition feed of this channel was launched during the early 2010s to cover the same content as this channel, which is known as Dubai Sports HD. Both feeds may still be available for users to watch across the country via different pay-tv carriers and via the country’s terrestrial feed.
