The three teams won on aggregate in their respective play-off games to book their Champions League spots.

The 32 spots for the UEFA Champions League has officially been filled ahead of Thursday's group stage draw. FC Copenhagen, Dinamo Zagreb and Rangers are the last set of teams to make a claim to participate in Europe's elite club competition after emerging victorious in their respective play-off matches on Wednesday night.

Copenhagen held their nerves to book their place by drawing 0-0 with Trabzonspor in their reverse clash in Turkey. The Danish club had done the heavy-lifting by winning 2-1 at home when they met last week. Relatively, Rangers ended their 12-year absence from the Champions League by beating PSV 3-2 on aggregate to secure a qualification berth.

Following a 2-2 draw in Scotland over a week ago, the Light Blue were inspired to a narrow 1-0 win in Eindhoven, with striker Antonio Colak rolling home a simple goal after a costly mistake in defense by PSV. The hosts probed to get a response but only succeeded in spurning several chances as their Champions League dream slipped away.

Elsewhere, Dinamo Zagreb overcame the resoluteness of Bodø/Glimt to earn a place among the final 32. The Croatian club fougt back from a 1-0 defeat in Sweden to win 4-2 on aggregate at the Maksmir in Zagreb. After tie the game with a 2-1 scoreline in regular time, late goals by josip Drmic and Petar Bockaj seal the fate of the hosts to send Bodo packing.

With the classified results being declared, this is how the respective pots for the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League draw looks like:

  • Pot 1: Real Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt, Manchester City, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Paris St-Germain, Porto, Ajax.

  • Pot 2: Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, RB Leipzig, Tottenham.

  • Pot 3: Borussia Dortmund RB Salzburg, Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan, Napoli, Benfica, Sporting CP, Bayer Leverkusen

  • Pot 4: Rangers, Dinamo Zagreb, Marseille, Copenhagen, Club Brugge, Celtic, Viktoria Plzen, Maccabi Haifa.

The UEFA Champions League group stage draw takes place in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday 25 August at 18:00 CET. The first group stage matches will be played on 6th and 7th September, 2022 respectively.
