The Premier League leaders and UEFA Champions League title holders could be without one player for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

Chelsea took on Juventus in yesterday's round of UEFA Champions League fixtures, and while the title holders marched to a convincing 4-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, that victory did not come without its downsides.

First of all, influential midfielder N'Golo Kante was forced off with a knee injury, which came as a huge concern to Thomas Tuchel as the Premier League leaders take on Man United this weekend in the English top-flight. However, the more concerning issue was that involving Ben Chilwell.

The in-form English left-back went down in serious pain with only 19 minutes left on the clock, with the former Leicester man needing assistance as he limped off the pitch and down the tunnel. Speaking after the match, Tuchel admitted to being worried about the player but stressed that a scan must be undergone in order to determine the issue.

Chilwell is set to undergo that scan, but according to the Sun, the Blues already suspect that he suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage. If that's the case, then the 24-year-old will unfortunately be sidelined for the rest of the 2021/22 season.

Ben did not start the season well and was forced to play back-up to Marcos Alonso. However, the Three Lions ace eventually worked his way back into Tuchel's starting XI and never looked back as he rapidly established himself as a key player.

The defender currently has three goals under his belt, including that stunning winning effort in the nervy 1-0 victory over Brentford, while racking up an assist. Similar to Reece James on the other side, Chilwell was enjoying a renaissance but could have sadly played his last game of the current campaign.

Tuchel won't be the only worried onlooker as Gareth Southgate will keep one eye on the defender ahead of next year's World Cup. The former Leicester man managed to work his way back into the England set-up and will thus be keen on regaining his fitness in time for Qatar 2022 should the scan result confirm the worst.
