Antonio Rudiger's opening goal was an interesting one as the Premier League leaders marched to a convincing win at the King Power Stadium.

Saturday marked the much-awaited return of the Premier League, with Matchweek 12 in the English top-flight kicking off with Chelsea's highly-anticipated trip to Leicester. Many expected this early clash to be an exciting battle; however, what unfolded was a one-sided 90 minutes of football.

The Blues entered this tie needing a win, having suffered a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Burnley right before the international break. Not only did the league leaders triumph, but they marched to a convincing victory as well, beating Brendan Rodgers' struggling side to go six points clear at the top, albeit only temporarily.

Tuchel's men did not take long to break the deadlock, with Antonio Rudiger heading the ball past Schmeichel from a corner kick after only 14 minutes of play. Just before the half-an-hour mark, Chelsea doubled their lead, courtesy of N'Golo Kante this time, with the Frenchman scoring an excellent goal.

Leicester made a few changes at half-time and managed to get a grip of the game in the second half. However, the Foxes failed to ever truly test Edouard Mendy and were thus made to pay by Ziyech and Pulisic, with the Moroccan setting up the latter for the third goal.

While Kante's effort was undoubtedly the pick of the day, as his brilliant run and strike left even Thomas Tuchel in awe, Chelsea's first goal saw them reach a rather unique milestone. Rudiger's header was the 13th goal scored by a Chelsea defender this season in the Premier League, meaning Tuchel's back five have now collectively outscored every other English top-flight defense combined!

When you combine all the goals scored by defenders at every other Premier League team, it tallies up to 12, showing just how crucial the likes of James, Chilwell, Rudiger, and Chalobah have been this term. In fact, Reece James is currently Chelsea's top scorer in the Premier League, with the Englishman netting an impressive four times so far.

This can be interpreted in two ways. It is always priceless to see players from other areas of the pitch chip in with goals, which is the positive side of this feat. However, on the other hand, it produces a damning assessment of how clinical Chelsea's forwards have been this season.

Romelu Lukaku was the club's marquee signing this summer and after a bright start, the Belgian quickly faded away and struggled to find the back of the net. Werner, on the other hand, is in his second season at Stamford Bridge but is yet to prove he was worth his mega-money price tag. Both men have been sidelined, however, which is a crucial caveat.
