Preview

Inter Miami are gearing up for a crucial week of fixtures, starting with this weekend's clash with Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. The Herons will have the home advantage for this 7:30 p.m. ET clash, with this tie taking place at Chase Stadium, as Tata Martino's men aim to return to winning ways.

Inter Miami enter this clash sitting second in the Eastern Conference. However, this does not tell the whole story, with Lionel Messi's side starting the campaign strong but faltering recently in the absence of the Argentine sensation.

The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner started the club's first five matches across the MLS and the CONCACAF Champions Cup, helping them win three while drawing the other two. However, the South American has missed the last five matches, with his team winning only once while suffering three defeats.

The Herons' most recent loss came in their most recent match, hosting Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal and losing the first leg 2-1. Messi did not recover in time for that tie and while the Florida-based franchise went 1-0 up in the 19th minute thanks to Tomás Avilés, David Ruiz's second-half sending-off condemned them to their third defeat of the campaign.

Domestically, Inter Miami are winless in their last two matches, stumbling against New York duo the New York Red Bulls and New York City. Tata Martino's men were held to a 1-1 draw against the latter and were thrashed 4-0 away to the earlier.

It should be noted that the Argentine manager will have one eye on their midweek fixture, with Messi and Co. traveling to the Estadio BBVA this Wednesday for the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal battle with Monterrey. However, Inter Miami must return to winning ways over the weekend if they are to overcome the Liga MX heavyweights.

Colorado Rapids, on the flip side, sit seventh in the Western Conference and while they boast fewer points than Saturday's opponent, form actually favors the visitors.

Unlike the home side, the Rapids have picked up a victory in their last three games, with that win coming in their most recent outing. That match was against last season's MLS Cup runners-up LAFC, with Chris Armas's men winning 3-2.

Djordje Mihailovic and Co. twice came back from a goal down against the Black and Gold to pick up these crucial three points, albeit with help from a late sending-off. Nonetheless, this was only their second win of the MLS season.

The visitors kicked off their campaign with a frustrating 4-1 defeat away to Portland but their first win of the season came on the third game, with Armas overseeing a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake. As a result, the Rapids sit seventh in the table, which is a huge improvement over last year after finishing the regular season bottom of the Western Conference.'
