Most-watched soccer games in the USA: March 25-31, 2024

While Manchester City and Arsenal failed to impress the audience during their highly-anticipated weekend clash, this top-of-the-table Premier League battle garnered record-breaking viewership in the USA.

Not only was this fixture the most-watched game in the United States for March 25-26, 2024, but this goalless draw was also the most-watched Premier League match in the USA in history, earning 2.04 million average viewers across NBC and Telemundo — the inclusion of Peacock takes the total viewership figure to 2.12M.

Of the 2.04 million, 1.57 million came courtesy of NBC, with their coverage earning a rating of 0.8. Meanwhile, 470,000 average viewers tuned in to Telemundo to watch these two Premier League giants share the points.

To no one's surprise, the other two games in the top three most-watched games in the USA last week went to Liga MX, with both being covered by Univision. The first was Cruz Azul's goalless draw with Pumas UNAM, a result which saw La Máquina drop to fifth in the table.

A total of 721,000 average viewers tuned in, narrowly edging out the third fixture on this list: Monterrey 0-2 Guadalajara. This tie earned an average viewership of 704,000 and a rating of 0.34 as Rayados lost their grip on the no.1 spot to Club America following this defeat.

Crystal Palace vs. Man City live this Saturday at 7:30 a.m. ET on USA Network and UNIVERSO

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City are back in action this weekend, traveling to Selhurst Park in what could be a tricky tie. Guardiola's men enter this tie on the back of their 4-1 midweek victory over Aston Villa, with Phi Foden scoring a hat-trick in that win. However, with their UEFA Champions League showdown with Real Madrid fast approaching, Pep will have one eye on Crystal Palace and another on that battle with Los Blancos.

Brighton vs. Arsenal live this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET on USA Network and the NBC Sports App

Two of the Premier League's three title contenders will be involved in tricky fixtures, starting with Arsenal, who travel to the Amex on Saturday. The Gunners bounced back from their goalless draw away to Manchester City by beating Luton Town 2-0 on Wednesday to temporarily go top of the table, though Liverpool reclaimed that spot the following day. Brighton, on the other hand, have won only four times in their last 15 league games. Nonetheless, with De Zerbi at the helm, Arteta's side will need to be wary.

Sporting CP vs. Benfica live this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on GOLTV, GolTV Espanol, and GOLTV Play

The most highly-anticipated Dérbi de Lisboa in recent memory is here, with Sporting CP hosting Benfica in a potential Primeira Liga title decider. Only a point separates the two Lisbon giants currently, with the hosts sitting top of the table. However, the Lions have a game in hand over the Eagles, meaning a win on Saturday could quickly unfold into a seven-point lead for Ruben Amorim's side.

Copa del Rey Final: Athletic Club vs. Mallorca live this Saturday at 4 p.m. ET exclusively on ESPN+

Will Athletic Club, the second most successful club in Copa del Rey history, end their 40-year wait to get their hands on this trophy? That is the question on everyone's mind as the Basque outfit prepare to face Mallorca in Saturday's final. Nico Wiliams and Co. had to work for their spot, beating Barcelona in the quarterfinals before overcoming Atletico Madrid across two legs in the semifinals. Mallorca, meanwhile, had a rough path of their own, facing La Liga's surprise package Girona in the last eight before beating Real Sociedad in the penultimate round. Tune in to ESPN+ to catch the final live in the USA.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, enter on the back of their embarrassing 4-3 loss at Chelsea but will look to their unforgettable 4-3 FA Cup quarterfinal win over Klopp's men for inspiration. Arsenal vs. Bayern, Real Madrid vs. Man City, and PSG vs. Barcelona kick off the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals live on Paramount+ and ViX

European soccer returns this midweek, with the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinals all kicking off next week. All eyes will be on three fixtures from the UEFA Champions League and those are Arsenal vs. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid vs. Man City, and PSG vs. Barcelona.

The Gunners, who are one of the favorites for the Premier League title, will look to overcome a reeling Bayern Munich who recently conceded the title after losing 2-0 in Der Klassiker. Real Madrid host reigning champions Manchester City that same day, with Los Blancos eager for revenge after being embarrassed by Guardiola's side in last season's semifinals.

The Blaugrana, meanwhile, will be aiming for redemption in Europe after enduring a mixed season in La Liga but will want to avoid another capitulation in front of Mbappe and Co. Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid host Dortmund as they eye a semifinal berth for the first time since 2016-17.

Additionally, there will be exciting UEFA Europa League quarterfinal matches taking place on Thursday, with AC Milan facing Roma, Liverpool hosting Atalanta, and Bayer Leverkusen locking horns with West Ham in the standout fixtures. Meanwhile, Premier League outfit Aston Villa take on Lille that same day in the UEFA Europa Conference League last eight. All European fixtures will be available to stream live on Paramount+ and ViX.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami will be in action twice over five days, with the Herons involved in MLS action over the weekend before taking to the field in the CONCACAF Champions Cup during the midweek.

Starting with the weekend, Tata Martino's men will be hosting Western Conference outfit Colorado Rapids live exclusively on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Inter Miami, who are winless in their last two domestic fixtures, will be eyeing a return to winning ways after losing 4-0 to the New York Red Bulls before drawing 1-1 at home to New York City in their last two league matches.

After that comes the all-important trip to the Estadio BBVA for the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal clash with Monterrey. Although there is no club soccer taking place this week due to yet another international hiatus, fans will not see soccer totally come to a screeching halt. In fact, there are plenty of matches to keep fans entertained over the next few days.

Here's all you need to know ahead of another week in women's soccer.

What to watch in women's soccer: April 5 to April 7

UEFA Women's Euro Qualifiers

The qualifying process for the next installment of the UEFA Women's EURO competition gets back underway on Friday, April 5th. Key matches include what should be a very interesting clash starring England, who won the last edition back in 2022, taking on Sweden, who are certainly a team capable of causing their opponents some major concerns. Fans in the USA can live-stream England vs. Sweden on CBS Sports Golazo, with a kick-off time set for 3 p.m. ET (12 p.m. PT).

SheBelieves Cup

On Saturday, all eyes will shift towards the SheBelieves Cup, a competition organized by the United States Soccer Federation. This year's competition will be the ninth iteration of the tournament, and not surprisingly, has been dominated by the USWNT, who have failed to win only two of the last eight installments (France and England won it in 2017 and 2019 respectively).

Japan, Canada, and Brazil are the three guests to take part, with Japan facing the USWNT in the first of Saturday's double-header that kicks off at 12.30 p.m. ET (9.30 a.m. PT). Fans can live-stream that match on Peacock, and the streaming provider will also be carrying the second of Saturday's two games starring Canada and Brazil at 3.30 p.m. ET (12.30 p.m. PT).

What to watch in women's soccer: April 8 to April 11

Final four decided in UWCL - including intriguing all-French derby

The final four in the 2023/24 UWCL competition is now set, and it has predictably provided some great match-ups. Although they put up a good fight against heavyweights Lyon in the first leg, Benfica were unable to keep their Cinderella story going as they were beaten 4-1 in the second leg to ultimately crash out of the competition following a 6-2 aggregate loss.

Lyon, who are the most successful team in this tournament, will face fellow French side PSG in what will see many French national teammates pitted against each other. Les Parisiens comfortably booked their ticket in the semifinals after cruising to a 3-0 second-leg win over Swedish side Häcken, who had surprised many by getting to this juncture after finishing second in their quartet behind Chelsea.

Speaking of Chelsea, Emma Hayes's squad are onto the semifinals despite a surprise 1-1 draw with Ajax in the second leg. Thanks to a 3-0 win from the first leg, the Blues' draw was not too damaging, although they will face a tough test against reigning champions Barcelona in what also should be a very interesting tactical battle for fans and neutrals alike.

And finally, Barcelona will once again look to defend their continental crown after booking their final four spot following a 5-2 aggregate win over Norwegian side Brann over two legs.

The semifinals of the 2023/24 UEFA Women's Champions League will get underway later this month on April 20th and 21st.

Didn't find your favorite women's league on this list? No worries, as this is just a highlight of some of the exciting games coming up this week. Make sure to check out our special women's soccer page here at for full broadcast info, match updates, news, and more.

What to stream on Paramount+ this weekend: Serie A, Argentine soccer, and more

With the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinals kicking off next week, Paramount+ is the go-to platform for soccer lovers in the USA. However, the streaming platform still has fans covered this weekend with an array of exciting fixtures, mainly from Serie A.

AC Milan kicks things off on Paramount+, with the Rossoneri's San Siro showdown vs. Leece being the first live match scheduled to be streamed this weekend on the Paramount Global platform. The Italian giants, who are second in the table, look to strengthen their grip on the no.2 spot but the focus on Saturday will be on the Derby della Capitale between Roma and Lazio, live at 12 p.m. ET.

The Giallorossi, who face rivals AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal live next Thursday on Paramount+, have been sensational since Daniele De Rossi succeeded Jose Mourinho as interim boss. Paulo Dybala and Co. are fifth in the table and while fourth-placed Bologna are not miles away, Roma are closely followed by Atalanta and city rivals Lazio in the race to qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

Telemundo, UNIVERSO, and Peacock present the SheBelieves Cup

The event featuring women's national teams from the United States, Japan, Canada, and Brazil, will kick off on Saturday with two games. The USWNT will start the competition against Japan, while Canada and Brazil will gear up for the follow-up match as soon as the other clash comes to an end.

Telemundo will be airing the inaugural game, with additional coverage being provided by UNIVERSO and Peacock. The rest of the competition will be covered by UNIVERSO and Peacock, including the third-place game and the final match on Tuesday, April 9.

The network has prepared an all-star cast to cover this competition, with Andrés Cantor and Manuel Sol ready to share their knowledge with those watching the USWNT against Japan. Hours later, Copán Álvarez and Natalia Astrain will be calling the Canada vs Brazil match.

Borussia Dortmund end Bayern's Der Klassiker records with 2-0 win

Almost ten years had gone by, but finally, Borussia Dortmund had their day in Der Klassiker.

The Black and Yellow were able to end a woeful run against Bayern, both in their classic rivalry and when playing away from home, to cement their place as the fourth-ranked team in the Bundesliga. Moreover, Dortmund practically ended Bayern's chances of winning one more Bundesliga title in a row with this defeat, which leaves Die Roten 13 points behind Bayer Leverkusen.

Goals by Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson were enough for Edin Terzic's men to claim three points in this match, where Bayern lacked depth and solutions from the bench, as Thomas Tuchel's decisions to change his playmakers at the same time also contributed to the Bavarians' fiasco.

But what was special about this result? First of all, it is the first time BVB have beaten the Bundesliga holders away from home since April 2014, but that's not all. Read more…

Liverpool handed boost in pursuit of Jurgen Klopp's replacement

Liverpool's search for a new tactician will not be easy, but there have been some recent developments that give their fans cause for hope.

The club had earmarked Xabi Alonso as Jürgen Klopp's replacement, but the Spanish tactician will not leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season. Other options such as Roberto De Zerbi or Simone Inzaghi seem to be far away from their reach, but one of their main alternatives has suddenly become available thanks to a buyout clause.

Liverpool had already included Sporting CP's coach Ruben Amorim in their shortlist, and now, the club has found out the amount of money they would need to pay to hire the 39-year-old. At $15M, the price for Amorim's services seems payable for Liverpool, although the club seems willing to negotiate to try and lower that amount. Read more…

Luis Enrique issues response after Kylian Mbappe allegedly insulted the PSG boss after being subbed off in Le Classique

Sunday's Le Classique between PSG and Marseille sparked further controversy at the Stade Vélodrome, with Luis Enrique shocking everyone by taking off star attack Kylian Mbappe in the 65th minute of the game when the score line was only 1-0.

And to make things worse, the Frenchman, who was understandably displeased to come off, allegedly insulted the Spanish manager. The club's all-time top scorer could be seen muttering something as he walked off the pitch, with many accusing him of saying "son of a b***h" in French.

The Spanish tactician addressed the allegation ahead of Wednesday's Coupe de France semifinal showdown with Rennes, refuting the claim that Mbappe insulted him while hailing his attitude both on and off the pitch.

"What's curious is everything that's being said based on a piece of false news," Enrique said. Read more…

Premier League icon slams Erling Haaland following his lackluster performance in Man City 0-0 Arsenal

Sunday saw Premier League giants Manchester City and Arsenal face off in a highly-anticipated showdown, but while these two teams are vying for the title, they delivered a lackluster 90 minutes of soccer for the second time in a row.

Both teams struggled to show quality in the final third but despite this, it was one Manchester City player who caught flack following full-time. That man was Erling Haaland, the Etihad Stadium goalscoring machine regarded by many as the best striker in world football.

For the second time this season, the Norwegian ace came up short against Arsenal's rock-solid defense, led by William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. The 23-year-old clashed with the Gunners center-backs and while they reconciled at full-time, the former Dortmund sensation could not avoid the wrath of Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane.

The former Manchester United midfielder, regarded as the greatest Premier League captain in history, slammed Haaland's performance and compared the player's all-round game to that of a League Two player. Read more…

Arsenal say "no obvious cardiac cause" for women's star Maanum's collapse

Arsenal said Thursday there were "no obvious cardiac causes" for Frida Maanum's collapse during last weekend's Women's League Cup final win over Chelsea.

Paramedics and team medical staff raced onto the pitch to help Maanum when she suddenly fell to the turf off the ball in second-half stoppage time at Molineux on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Norway international received oxygen through a mask and was eventually carried off on a stretcher after being treated for around seven minutes in a match Arsenal went on to win 1-0. Read more…

Ferdinand warns Rashford may have to leave Man Utd to reignite career

Rio Ferdinand believes Marcus Rashford may have to leave Manchester United if the England forward is to revive his faltering career.

The 26-year-old has scored just eight goals in 36 appearances for United so far this season -- a far cry from last term when he scored a career-best 30 goals for United.

Rashford has also faced criticism over his off-field conduct.

Reports in late January suggested Rashford had spent an evening at a Belfast nightclub before missing training with United. Read more…

Rubiales arrested at airport over alleged federation graft scandal

Spanish police on Wednesday briefly arrested disgraced ex-football chief Luis Rubiales Wednesday in connection with an alleged graft scandal at the RFEF football federation when he was president.

The 46-year-old was detained at Madrid's Barajas airport shortly after flying in from the Dominican Republic but released shortly afterward, a Guardia Civil police spokesman said.

Sources close to the probe said he disembarked from the plane under a police escort before being questioned inside the airport.

His arrest came two weeks after investigators searched 11 locations, including the RFEF's Madrid headquarters and Rubiales' house in the southern city of Granada, as part of a probe into alleged corruption and other crimes. Read more…
