The French striker scored the Nerazzurri's second goal of the game and was undeniably one of the best goals of the season so far.

September 16, 2023, will go down in memory for Inter Milan fans.

The Nerazzurri took to the field on Saturday to face bitter rivals AC Milan in the always-heated Milan Derby. Both teams entered this game with a perfect record, with last season's UEFA Champions League runners-up aiming to end that run for the Rossoneri.

And not only did Simone Inzaghi's men pull that off, they achieved this in emphatic style as well, thrashing their rivals 5-1 in what was an unforgettable game at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scored a brace, Marcus Thuram, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, and Davide Frattesi all got on the scoresheet, and while there were several shouts for Man of the Match, one player stood head and shoulders above the rest for the goal of the game.

That player was Thuram, with the French striker, who joined Inter Milan for free over the summer, scoring an unstoppable goal against Mike Maignan from the edge of AC Milan's box.

There was little the Rossoneri could have done to stop this goal once the ball reached the former Monchengladbach ace. The 26-year-old rifled his shot into the top right corner of the goal, with Maignan watching helplessly as his team went 2-0 down. Check it out in the clips below (videos are geo-restricted).

Despite the  5-1 victory, this does not go down as Inter Milan's largest margin win over their rivals. However, the Nerazzurri still managed to shatter a handful of records with this result, and here is a breakdown of that.

As a result of this game, AC Milan have been leapfrogged in the table by Juventus following their 3-1 win over Lazio while others might follow suit. On the other hand, Thuram and Co. lead the table outright and boast a two-point advantage over their closest rivals, the Old Lady.
