While there were 2026 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2024 qualifiers going on, friendlies grabbed two of the top three spots on this list.

The viewership numbers for soccer games for the week of September 4 through September 10 are in, and while the beautiful game did not dominate the viewership list due to the international break, a handful of games made the cut.

Despite the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2024 qualifiers taking place, the most-watched game was actually a friendly, with Mexico's 2-2 draw with Australia garnering 1.35 million average viewers for Univision.

Sister channel Telemundo also made it to the podium, with the Spanish-language network's coverage of Argentina's 1-0 FIFA World Cup qualifier win over Ecuador racking up an average viewership of 840,000. Lionel Messi scored the only goal of the game, with the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner netting from a free kick.

And wrapping things up is the friendly between Guadalajara and Leon, with Chivas beating their Liga MX rivals 2-0. Telemundo's airing of this fixture attracted nearly 500,000 viewers, showing the popularity of the Mexican top flight in the USA.
