La Albiceleste, with Messi leading the pack, returns to Telemundo in a journey to go back to another World Cup edition in three years.

It is time for CONMEBOL teams to fight for a spot in the 2026 World Cup, and Telemundo will kick off their Rumbo al Mundial series with a historic event featuring Argentina and Ecuador, who begin their journey to play in the 2026 edition of the FIFA World Cup.

The game, set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET, will feature the winning side in Qatar led by Lionel Messi. Trying to steal some points away from La Albiceleste will be Ecuador, the South American team that opened the 2022 edition against hosts Qatar. The fixture will be held in Buenos Aires in front of a vast majority of Argentine supporters.

Messi and Co. will be facing some stiff competition, as Ecuador will be led by the dangerous Enner Valencia and some of La Tricolor's rising talents. The ultimate prize will come in two years, when Argentina and Ecuador hope to be included among the six nations to earn a direct spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Telemundo has prepared for this event with a stellar team, led by seven-time Emmy award-winner Andrés Cantor calling play-by-play action. Teaming up with him will be former Mexican National Team player Manuel Sol, who will provide analysis of all things related to the game.

With this broadcast, Telemundo Deportes cements it reputation as the leading U.S. sports media brand for Spanish-speaking users, adding this coverage to select programming that features the top sporting events, including exclusive coverage of all FIFA properties and all Team USA matches until 2026.
