The Blues are keen on adding another player to their squad before Deadline Day and are targeting a familiar name to Premier League fans.

Chelsea might have already made several signings this summer but the London giants are not done in the transfer window.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the London heavyweights are eyeing a move for one of their rivals' players. That person is none other than Cole Palmer, the Manchester City starlet who has been grabbing headlines since the departure of Riyad Mahrez.

The Manchester City academy graduate has made a handful of appearances for the first team prior to this campaign but with Mahrez gone, the Englishman was afforded starts on the right in Pep Guardiola's lineup in key games.

His contributions in the Community Shield versus Arsenal and the UEFA Super Cup showdown with Sevilla remain fresh on everyone's mind, with the 21-year-old scoring in both of those ties.

And while the recently crowned UEFA Euro U21 champion has played out wide for the Cityzens, the Englishman can play centrally as well, which makes sense for Chelsea given their recent interest in Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

It should be noted that while Palmer is on Chelsea's list, nothing has materialized so far. Boehly and Co. are keen to begin talks soon but Manchester City's position remains unclear. Pep made interesting comments about the youngster following the UEFA Super Cup win which might offer a hint or two at his future.

Speaking after the victory, the Spanish tactician admitted that the youngster, who was initially seeking an exit in search of more minutes, will either stay at the Etihad Stadium or be sold, thus ruling out a loan while keeping the door open to a permanent exit.
