Six games featuring some of the most interesting clubs in Liga MX and the MLS get their KO stage faces on. Keep an eye on all games with this preview.

The first day of the knockout stages in the 2023 Leagues Cup was a massive success, and the same is expected for the second day of the do-or-die matches, now with six games being held between Liga MX and MLS clubs.

The overall result saw MLS clubs taking most of the benefits, as they were able to defeat three Liga MX clubs en route to the next round. Added to that, Lionel Messi's Inter Miami claimed a big win in an all-Florida tie against Orlando City, leaving things set for Thursday's matches.

For the day's fixtures, it will be five Mexican clubs facing seven MLS teams. There will be two fixtures involving MLS clubs exclusively, while there will also be one between Liga MX clubs, which will see each league earning at least one spot in the next round.

Without further ado, let us give you a glimpse on all fixtures so you get a better idea on what will be in play this Thursday.

Atlas vs New England

Los Rojinegros made it past the first round in first place of the East 3 group, and now they get to face the Revs in what could be an interesting clash. The MLS club will have to deal with many absences due to injury, and added to those, Bruce Arena's sanction for an investigation within the club will leave the team without their skipper for the remainder of the competition. All things considered, it seems that Atlas could come out on top after this clash, mainly because the team has gotten a grip on what coach Benjamín Mora wants from them, and their recent performances in their league and in this tournament reveal they get in better shape than New England for this match. These clubs have met only once before, with the Revs claiming a one-nil win back in 2009. Hopefully for the Liga MX club, things will be a lot different on Thursday.

New York RB vs New York City FC

The first all-MLS clash of the evening features one of the fiercest rivalries in the league, this time with a spot in the next round up for grabs. The Red Bulls make it to this game after ending their run in the previous stage as group East 4 winners, while the Cityzens claimed the runner-up spot in East 3 group. The overall record between these teams has the Red Bulls with 14 wins in 25 matches against their neighbors, including three victories in their last four games at Red Bull Arena. Their previous meeting took place in May, with the Red Bulls winning it one-nil. Things have changed for both teams since then, but their rivalry has always delivered intense matches, and Thursday's should not be any different.

Philadelphia Union vs DC United

The second game between MLS clubs features the Union and DC United in what may be a good match to keep an eye on. The most recent fixture between these teams ended in a goalless draw, but the two prior matches concluded in heavy wins for Philadelphia, claiming a 6-0 win on the road and an equally whopping 7-0 victory. DC United have only won once against Philadelphia in their last ten games, which may seem as a lock for the Union in this tie. Nonetheless, the most recent KO match between them saw DC United claiming a win, which means it could be very dangerous for the Union to kick back and relax.

Pumas UNAM vs Querétaro

The all-Liga MX game of the day features one of the so called "Big Four" and the up and coming Gallos Blancos. There is no clear favorite when these teams lock horns, as both have won 12 matches in their last 35 meetings, with eleven draws to complete their record. Querétaro won the most recent match between them 1-0 back in April, which ended a two-game winning streak for Pumas against them. With this tie being so complicated to predict, it will come down to the coach's experience, and that balance goes also for Querétaro's Mauro Gerk, who has beaten Pumas' boss Antonio Mohamed in their only match. Will this be a game where Pumas show their true colors, or is this Querétaro's chance to thrive in an international tournament? Scroll down to see where you can watch the game and find out.

Charlotte vs Cruz Azul

The team from North Carolina won group East 4 with only one point between them and FC Dallas, while a lucky draw and win after penalties were enough for Cruz Azul to reach the KO stage as runners-up in group South 3. These teams have a lot to prove when it comes to this game, especially with the Liga MX side having an interesting squad that should perform better with a seasoned coach like the one they have at the helm. As for Charlotte, the team led by Christiab Lattanzio has been waiting for a game such as this one to show their worth, and beating one of the most winning teams in Liga MX would certainly do that for them.

León vs Real Salt Lake

Putting an end to a busy Thursday, León are bound to show their fans why they were able to go all the way in the 2023 Concacaf CL, and the game against Real Salt Lake will see them in prime position to claim their place as a dominant force in the region. RSL were second in Group West 2, where Monterrey defeated them without even putting a fight; on the other hand, León struggled in their first match but prevailed as group West 3 leaders against Vancouver and Los Angeles Galaxy. León's record against MLS clubs shows only two losses out of nine games, while RSL has only won once against Mexican opponents in nine previous fixtures. Will this be a sign of things to come?
