The Spanish midfielder recently became a free agent after a five-year stay with Japan's Vissel Kobe, but is set to extend his career despite being close to turning 40.

Ever since the announcement of Lionel Messi's signing, players from all over the world have been rumored to be joining Inter Miami in coming weeks. This time, to the names of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, another former Barcelona footballer has been linked to a move to North America.

The name in question is none other than Andrés Iniesta, who concluded his stint with Vissel Kobe after five years and could join the Miamians as a free agent. Other reports hint that players such as Eden Hazard may also join the team soon, but Iniesta's status as one of Messi's closest friends could teap the scales in his favor.

The North American team is expected to be quite active during the upcoming break in the MLS, with Messi, Busquets, Alba and even coach Gerardo Martino ready to join the club. President Jorge Más revealed the team will be willing to put in quite an investment to help the team leave the last place in the Eastern Conference, where they trail Toronto by two points and face a gap of over ten points when compared to those teams who are playoff-bound.

As for Iniesta, the player has already been offered the chance to keep playing in Saudi Arabia, but the option to team up with his former teammates and friends could be enough to lure him to Miami.
