As matchday two of the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup gets underway, both the USMNT and minnows Saint Kitts and Nevis will be seeking to get back to winning ways following disappointing results from their tournament openers against Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Stars and Stripes, who are the reigning champions, were held to frustrating one-all draw against Jamaica in which the Reggae Boyz first grabbed an early goal and pinned the USMNT back for large spells of the second half. However, some key tactical changes in the second 45 helped to swing the tie in the USMNT's favor, with Brandon Vazquez's late goal being enough to salvage a vital point for the current Gold Cup holders.

Vazquez was one of several players making his official competitive debut for Team USA after coming on as a late sub and he will naturally hope that his crucial goal will help him force his way into the starting XI for this upcoming match.

Meanwhile, Saint Kitts and Nevis, nicknamed the Sugar Boyz, endured a rough start to their first-ever appearance at a Gold Cup. Austin Huggins's men were thoroughly beaten 3-0 by a dominant Trinidad & Tobago side, and as a result, sit bottom of their quartet. They will hope that key players like midfielder Romaine Sawyers and forward Keithroy Freeman, both of whom have six goals each, will play a decisive role in what is set to be an even tougher test on Wednesday evening.
