The Spanish footballer could have given Chelsea a lifeline in their quest to reach the semis, but Courtois was spot on to keep a clean sheet.

Chelsea have dominated possession and have had many chances of scoring at least one goal against Real Madrid, but when the time has come to find the back of the net, their footballers have dropped the ball in spectacular fashion.

One of those who was unable to transform a chance into a goal was Marc Cucurella, who will add some of his actions today to his Hall of Shame. One of those failed moves had to do with a clear chance in front of goal, which was denied by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Cucurella found himself all alone inside Real Madrid's box with only Courtois to beat, but his reaction was a bit slow and he allowed Courtois to step out and deflect a shot that should have given the Blues a one-nil lead before halftime.
