An article by Cadena Ser has identified major changes that could come for Los Blancos if they fail to win titles, starting with the fate of their boss.

If Real Madrid's season continues to go the way it is going, and the club is not able to add silverware to its massive resume, president Florentino Pérez will not hesitate to make changes within the squad. Surprisingly, those changes will not only include firing Carlo Ancelotti, but it would also mean the end of an era for most of the team's most laureated footballers.

A report by Cadena Ser revealed earlier today that Florentino Pérez has already plotted a plan to change the course of things at La Casa Blanca if they end the year without any new trophies. The first step of that plan would require the boss to fire Carlo Ancelotti, and the Spanish media outlet has identified Pérez's top options to replace "Carletto".

The first one of those options, and the easiest one to accomplish, would be Mauricio Pochettino. The former Tottenham and PSG boss has been always praised by Pérez, and he even came close to joining Los Blancos after Zidane's first exit in 2018, but Florentino Pérez refused to pay the $20M buyout clause set by Tottenham back then. Pochettino would end up leading Spurs to the UCL final and would go on to coach PSG, but he has been out of a job since the end of the 2021-22 season.

The second option, which is considered to be an in-house solution, is Xabi Alonso. The former midfielder started his coaching career in Real Madrid's youth categories back in 2018, and made a name for himself as a coach while in charge of Real Sociedad B, a team he led to the Spanish Segunda División in just his second season in charge. After a number of issues with his squad, he left Real Sociedad B at the end of last season, and he was picked up to replace Gerardo Seoane at Bayer Leverkusen, where he has led his side's rise from being involved in relegation spots to fighting for a place in European competitions in just 17 league games.

But even if any of these coaches replace Ancelotti, Pérez's plan to revamp the squad goes even further. The report by Cadena Ser states that both of these bosses will be asked to give players more playing time to footbalers such as Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Dani Ceballos. If that plan is executed, players such as Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and even Karim Benzema, would still be around but no longer as starters, meaning that their time with the club could be over soon.

This report by Cadena Ser also hints that Real Madrid will go all in to find a suitable replacement for Benzema in case they are not able to hire Mbappé or Erling Haaland. The Spanish media outlet implied that Los Blancos would be ready to spend over $100M for a player that can fill Benzema's shoes ASAP.

If these plans come to fruition, we could be watching at the end of an era for the Spanish giants, but only time will tell if Florentino Pérez needs to execute this plot or if the team's historic lineup is given one more chance to show their worth next season, still under the Italian boss.
