The anxiety ahead of the UEFA Euro 2012 finals draw in Kyiv on December 2 has fiercely hit new levels. The prospect of having Spain, England, Portugal and France placed in one group explains this.
Ukraine and Poland have been seeded due to their status as co-hosts. Spain and the Netherlands complete Pot 1. La Roja and the Oranje are currently superior to any other team in the competition in terms of coefficients.

Pot 2 sees Germany, Italy, England and Russia lined up. The Germans boast of showcasing the best football in the world since the past 12 months, the Italians claim to have found their new talisman in the form of Italy’s “problem child” Mario Balotelli, the Three Lions are looking forward to life at Euro 2012 without Wayne Rooney and the Russians want to keep progressing in the world of football.

Pot 3 is highlighted by the presence of playoff champions Portugal. The Cristiano Ronaldo-led team has been tipped to prove its worth amongst some of the biggest contenders next summer. Turkey’s murderers Croatia, Ibrahimovic’s Sweden and Euro 2004 winners Greece complete this section.

In Pot 4, Denmark, France, the Czech Republic and the Republic of Ireland occupy the places. France and Denmark grabbed automatic qualification at the expense of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Portugal respectively. The Czechs and the Irish made their way through thanks to triumphs over Montenegro and Estonia in the playoffs.

Pot 1: Spain, Netherlands, Ukraine, Poland
Pot 2: Germany, Italy, England, Russia
Pot 3: Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Sweden
Pot 4: Denmark, France, Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland

What will the draw on December 2 produce? Will Spain meet their Iberian rivals, Portugal? Will Germany experience yet another competitive encounter with Poland?

Whatever happens at the UEFA Euro 2012 finals draw at the Palace of Arts in Ukraine, one thing is certain: There will be no easy group as each finalist presents a considerable amount of threat.
