Real Madrid will have the chance to put their La Liga campaign back on track when they’ll play away to Racing Santander on Wednesday.
Jose Mourinho will have 21 men available for this task. Cristiano Ronaldo is poised to start after appearing as a second half substitute in last weekend’s defeat to Levante. Sami Khedira, meanwhile, has been ruled through suspension. Commenting on team news, Jose Mourinho stated at a press conference on Tuesday:

“We will miss three players, which means we'll have to use men who weren't starters in our previous match, but that's not a problem.

“We've always said our 21 players are ready. It can't always be the same ones. They will all get a chance and it's important they make good use of it.”

Real Madrid are hoping to cope well with the absence of Khedira in midfield. Racing Santander cannot match Los Blancos on paper but the prospect of an upset might not be dead. After what happened on match-day 3, Real Madrid defender Marcelo is fearing about his club’s title aspirations.

“We really shouldn't be spilling points against teams like Levante. The worst thing is that the three points we lost on Sunday could prove to be decisive at the end of the season,” Marcelo told AS.

Jose Mourinho also believes that what counts most at this stage for Real Madrid isn’t the quality of their football, but the positivity of their results. In one of his many statements during Tuesday’s press conference, the Portuguese coach declared:

“A second defeat would be something to worry about. These are the points that matter most at the end of the day. Dropping three points again would mean dropping six in total in two consecutive games.

“It doesn't matter if we play well and lose tomorrow. Despite how long the season has yet to go it would be worrying to drop points tomorrow.”

Racing Santander drew goalless with Levante on match-day 2 of La Liga before losing emphatically to Atletico Madrid last weekend. They’d like to fancy their chances at El Sardinero on Wednesday night after clinching 1 point from a possible 9.

Currently, Real Madrid have 6 points. They've dropped onto the 5th position in La Liga while Valencia, Real Betis, Barcelona and Sevilla are occupying the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th spot respectively.
