Atletico Madrid will aim to get the dream of securing European football back on track when they travel to face Osasuna.

Match Preview

Osasuna heads into Wednesday's encounter with Atletico Madrid with the hope of staying clear of the relegation zone. Los Rojillos jumped to the 11th position after drawing 1-1 away to Real Sociedad in their first game following the restart of La Liga season.

Currently, Pamplona outfit is 10 points clear of the relegation zone with 10 matches left to play. A place in Europe is also not far off for Arrasate's men as 11 points separate them from a Europa League place. However, Osasuna will need an upgrade in form in order to fulfill the daunting objective of finishing in the top half.

Over the course of their last 10 matches, they have managed four wins and one draw. Their appearances in the last four games have yielded a meager return of four points out of a possible 12.

For Atletico Madrid, the 2019/2020 season is steadily shaping up to be one of the club's worst under manager Diego Simeone. The Rojiblancos, despite the heavy investment in recruitment, have performed below par for the majority of the season. Their current status as the occupant of the 6th position is a reflection of their topsy-turvy ride this season.

The 2014 La Liga champions head over to Osasuna on the back of a 1-1 draw with Athletic Club over the weekend. A win in Pamplona should be enough to take the Wanda Metropolitano outfit back into the top four should Real Sociedad drop point in their trip to Alaves.

Atletico's form, however, does not evoke optimism considering they have drawn their last three La Liga matches in succession. In the grand scheme of things, the Madrid side has managed four wins across all competitions in their last 10 outings.

Osasuna will be without Chimy Avila when Atletico visits on Wednesday with the striker injured. Relatively, both Robert Ibanez and Kike Barja remain doubtful for the upcoming clash. For Atletico Madrid, Joao Felix will be available for selection after serving a one-match ban. Center back Felipe is battling a thigh injury and remains a doubt for the trip to Osasuna. Sime Vrsaljko is ruled out of action as he is yet to recover from a foot injury.
