It is no secret that the Argentine sensation is on the Blaugrana's radar and according to AS, the Catalan giants have moved closer to acquiring his services.

Barcelona’s interest in Lautaro Martinez is no secret. According to AS, the Blaugrana have made a huge breakthrough in their pursuit of the Inter Milan sensation.

According to the Spanish publication, the Catalan giants have agreed personal terms with the Argentine sensation. The 22-year-old is ready to commit to a five-year Camp Nou deal and will pocket €12M per season, which translates to $13.4M annually. This amount does not include bonuses.

The report touts this as proof that Lautaro is destined to join up with countryman Lionel Messi. They write that the Nerazzurri have lost hope in their fight to retain his services but the Serie A giants have not reached any agreement with Barcelona.

The Spanish giants’ interest in Martinez is a no-brainer. With Suarez aging and his fitness issues, the club are keen on landing a superstar no.9 to partner with Messi and after his exploits in Serie A this season, Lautaro fits the bill.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the financial ramifications it brought upon the footballing world, many argued that Barcelona would not boast the funds to secure this transfer. Given that the first-team players were asked to take wage cuts, this could be true. Setien’s side have not struck a deal with Inter Milan, which means they may still miss out on Lautaro, but the recent rumors read heavily in the Blaugrana’s favor.
