Roberto Mancini has rubbished speculations linking him with an exit from Manchester City if the rich spenders do not achieve a top four position this season.
The Manchester City owners have earmarked a Champions League spot as a requirement for City this season after all their spending antics last summer. However, Mancini believes that his job will not be under any sort of threats even if City fail to secure a top four finish.

"It is very important that we reach our targets but I don't know whether my future is dependent on me finishing in the top four,'' he said.

"I don't think so. I have a three-year contract. In any case, we don't want to finish fourth. We want to finish third.''

City are currently fourth on the league table with only eight more matches to go. However, Tottenham Hotspur are hot on their heels with a game in hand and things get even more fired up considering that Harry Redknapp would still have to bring his team to Eastlands on the 10th of May.

Despite that, Roberto Mancini stated that City's failure in the Europa League could be the catalyst to a better finish in the Premier League table. After being dumped out by Dynamo Kyiv, the Citizens only need to tackle only one game a week for the remainder of the season- something that Mancini believes will benefit them.

"For two months we played every three days with 14 players,'' said Mancini. That is very hard for every team, not just us.''

City will take on Sunderland tomorrow knowing that a defeat could be a huge blow to their hopes of sealing a Champions League spot for next season
