Conte reignites feud with Mou over Eriksen deal

Antonio Conte reignites feud with Mourinho over Eriksen transfer

January 20, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
The tug of war between both coaches escalated after Mou's words on the Danish midfielder's future.

We all know that Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho have never been each other's fans, and the latest exchange between them confirms that notion.

Right after Tottenham's goalless draw against Watford, Mourinho aimed a dig at Inter and Conte for making their intentions to sign Christian Eriksen public. Accordint to Mourinho, Conte's behavior on that matter should not be allowed, hinting that all coaches should wait to start talking about a player they are yet to sign.

But after Inter's Sunday draw against Lecce, Conte denied Mourinho's claims and blamed him for making his words sound different than he intended them to.

"I no longer talk about the transfer market. The last time I did it, someone we all know twisted my words so I won't say anything anymore. I never said anything unusual about the January transfer market making it difficult for all coaches. Every time I say something, it always gets amplified or twisted," Conte said.

Currently in second place of the Italian top-flight, Conte admitted that he will not continue to push the club for a new signing this winter, especially since he believes that the current squad can leapfrog Juventus once again to claim the Serie A title.

I repeat, I am happy with these players. The club is making its evaluations, we must try to keep working if we want to maintain a solid points average. The club has to decide if it wants to do something, if it wants to do it at a good price for the market or take a different approach. I am just a coach, I leave that to them," Conte concluded.
