A poor performance from Kepa and the defense saw the Blues lose at Goodison Park but there was one man who impressed for the London giants.

Saturday wasn’t a great day for Chelsea. The Blues were in action in the Premier League, kicking off Matchday 16 in the English top-flight with Saturday’s early trip to Everton.

This game came straight after the Toffees sacked Marco Silva. The Merseyside outfit were in the relegation zone heading into this tie and were hoping for interim boss Duncan Ferguson to pull off a remarkable win over the Blues.

And that’s exactly what they did. Everton came away with an impressive 3-1 win over Lampard’s crew, with goals from Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin (2) sealing the win. It was a respectable performance from the home side but horrible defending and an error from Kepa all but cost them the game.

After the final whistle, Chelsea fans took to social media with their express their disappointment with the team’s performance. One player, however, was singled out for praise and that was Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian got his name on the scoresheet, scoring the London giants only goal of the game to make it 2-1 and hand them a lifeline before conceding the third. However, it was his overall energy and performance in the middle of the park that impressed the fans. Check out the best tweets below.
