Man Utd close to deal for Ole replacement

Man Utd reportedly close to agreeing deal for Solskjaer replacement

October 16, 2019 By Ali M.
Fans have called for his sacking after the Red Devils' abysmal start to the campaign.

With Man United being in deep trouble and fans calling for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked, rumors of a replacement were inevitable. As a result, it comes as little surprise to see reports emerge claiming the Red Devils are close to agreeing a deal for his replacement.

The 20-time top-flight champions have won only two of their opening eight games and sit in 12th spot with only nine points, leaving them two points shy of the relegation zone. Since the 4-0 victory over Chelsea on the opening day, Man United have not scored more than one goal in a single game and are winless in their last three Premier League games, losing two and drawing one.

As a result, the club are ready to take action and are closing to an agreement with one highly-rated manager. That man is none other than former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri.

The Italian tactician is a free agent, having left the Bianconeri over the summer after guiding them to five consecutive Serie A titles. His achievements did not stop there as he led the Italians to two Champions League finals but unfortunately lost both, once to Barcelona and once to Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, he is seen as a wonderful tactician and has been touted by many as being the perfect man to take the Old Trafford job. Tuttosport claim Man United are close to appointing Allegri in a deal which would see him pocket approximately $8.3M per year.

The 1-0 loss at Newcastle right before the international break brought a sense of urgency to the negotiations, with the Red Devils knowing they might have to act quickly in order to save their season. Some have called for Solskjaer to be given time, given that it has not even been a full year since his appointment but the Norwegian boss could suffer the same fate as Mourinho and be sacked in the middle of the season.

Should Allegri arrive at Old Trafford, a few names are tipped to follow. Mario Mandzukic and Emre Can could be brought in as well as Patrice Evra in a backroom-staff role.

Next up for Rashford and Co. is a league clash with Liverpool and just as was the case with Mourinho’s tenure, defeat to the Merseyside giants could be the final nail to the coffin for Ole. If true, this could usher in a managerial change at Old Trafford.
