Les Parisians have been dealt an injury blow with the forward set for a spell on the sidelines.

French outfit Paris Saint-German has revealed that Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr has picked up muscle injury in his thigh. The 27-year-old forward is, as a result, ruled out of action for the next four weeks.

Neymar was in action for Brazil in its 2-2 draw against Senegal in last week's international friendly encounter at Singapore but only lasted for 12 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Nigeria after picking up an injury. The former Barcelona superstar was subsequently replaced by Philippe Coutinho and a post-match assessment revealed that the attacker has indeed taken a blow to his thigh.

On Monday a statement released by Paris Saint-Germain revealed that Neymar had undergone an MRI scan which confirmed a muscle injury in his left thigh. In view of this, the Brazilian star is expected to be out of action for the next four weeks.

"An MRI scan on Thursday afternoon confirmed a Grade 2 lesion to his left hamstring," the statement read.

"Another assessment will be made in eight days, but initial estimates put his return to competition at four weeks, depending on how the injury progresses."

This has thrown his participation in two Champions League ties against Club Brugge, as well as games against Nice, Marseille, Dijon and Lille out of the window. If all goes according to plan, Neymar could return to feature in the away trip to Real Madrid, having missed the first leg encounter as a result of an injury.

His initial return to action has been overly beneficial to PSG despite his broken relationship with the club's fanbase generated by his transfer saga this summer. On three seperate occassions, the former Barcelona stalwart scored three late goals to secure vital points which have put Thomas Tuchel's side atop the Ligue 1 table. In five appearances, the former Santos prodigy has registered four goals.
