Serie A giants set to make bids for Özil

Serie A giants enter tug of war to end Özil's 'nightmare' under Emery

October 14, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The German footballer seems to be heading out of Emirates Stadium due to his poor relationship with the Spanish boss.

Mesut Özil's situation at Arsenal has not improved over time, and now, the German footballer may trigger a new dispute between two bitter rivals interested in his services.

According to a report by Calciomercato, the 30-year-old player may be making a trip to the Italian top-flight in the winter transfer window, as Inter Milan and AC Milan are interested in the playmaker's services.

Özil has only played two games for the Gunners this season, and coach Unai Emery has gone as far as to leave the player out of the last three games, not even requiring his presence on the bench.

Fenerbahce have also shown interest in luring the player of Turkish descent to the Super Lig, but the yellow and blue side can't come up with the necessary funds to see this transfer taking place.

The report states that both Italian giants want to hire Özil on loan, with Arsenal taking care of a portion his hefty $440K weekly wage, if not all.

Inter recently entered a similar negotiation with Manchester United, who loaned Chilean flop Alexis Sánchez to the nerazzurri, with a buyout clause included in the negotiation. No details of a permanent transfer have been included in the aforementioned report, but it is safe to say that Inter could make a similar approach to see Özil wearing their jersey.

The nerazzurri side could be a better fit for Özil, since they are involved in the UEFA Champions League group stage and would end up playing in the UEFA Europa League if things take a turn for the worst. Meanwhile, Milan is banned from any European competition after breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Özil has played over 230 games for the Gunners, scoring 43 goals since joining the club in 2013. The German footballer has seen his numbers drop since Emery joined the club, and he seems ready to leave the club for failing to patch things up with the Spanish boss.
