The former Los Blancos striker is recovering well.

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima has expressed his gratitude to fans who sent him positive messages after being hospitalized. The Brazilian legend was reportedly diagnosed with pneumonia while on a holiday in Ibiza on Friday.

A scare wave swept across the player's fan base after he was apparently admitted to Hospital de Can Misses de Ibiza and then transferred to the intensive care unit of the Policlinical Nuestra Senora del Rosario, a private hospital in Ibiza.

Nonetheless, Ronaldo, having made commendable progress in his recovery process, took to Twitter to put the fears of his admirers to bed. He wrote: "Friends, I had a really nasty bout of flu while in Ibiza and had to go into hospital on Friday, but it's all in order now.

"I will be discharged tomorrow so that I can come back home. Thank you for all your love and kind messages!"

Ronaldo, who was forced to retire from football in 2011 after recurrent injuries, has been battling with weight issues in recent years. The 42-year-old scored 414 goals in his trophy-laden career on both club and national team level
