Merseyside is where his heart is!

Roberto Firmino has committed his long-term future to Liverpool by signing a new five-year contract extension. “Bobby”, as he’s affectionately addressed by the Liverpool fanbase, joined the club from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015.

The 26-year-old forward has gone ahead to become an integral member of Jurgen Klopp’s side, and has formed a lethal attacking partnership with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah this season. Working side-by-side with the duo, Firmino has racked up 27 goals in 50 outings - his most prolific season in his professional career so far.

On the subject of the new contract, Firmino was quick to express his delight in committing his future to the club.

“It was an easy decision," he told Liverpool's official website.

“The club have taken me in in an incredible way and I’ve grown a lot here with my work with the support of the whole team. I am very, very happy here.

“Everything fits in the best possible way. My teammates are fantastic and I am very grateful to be able to play with them at this club.

“I love to play for Liverpool FC. The fans are excellent and fantastic in how they support us all the way. They support us throughout the games and the work they do during the match is beautiful.”

According to Times Sport, Firmino’s wage will rise from about £120,000 per week to the somewhere in the £180,000 per week region.
