Match facts

  • Man City and Hull City have met once before on Boxing Day. The Citizens won 5-1 in that 2008 meeting.
  • In fact, the Etihad side have only lost once in their last eight meetings with the Tigers (W4, D3).
  • Hull City have, however, scored three goals and won in each of their last two Boxing Day matches.
  • The KCOM Stadium outfit are the only Premier League club without a win in December.
  • After failing to win three consecutive games in all competitions, Guardiola’s boys have now won their last two games (vs. Watford and Arsenal).

Team news

Man City will be handed a huge boost for this game, as they will be welcoming back Fernandinho. The Brazilian received a red card in the 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea after repeatedly shoving Cesc Fabgregas, and was thus banned for three games.

Unfortunately, the Citizens will not be welcoming Sergio Aguero back just yet. He was also dismissed in the defeat to the Blues, and was thus handed a four-game suspension. The Argentine will be available for their next game – a clash with Liverpool on New Year’s Eve.

The South American striker isn’t Pep Guardiola’s only absentee. Ilkay Gundogan was ruled out for the remainder of the season, whilst Vincent Kompany (knee) and Fabian Delph (groin) continue their road to recovery.

Hull City have no new worries, with Allan McGregor; Alex Bruce; Moses Odubajo; Will Keane; and Greg Luer remaining on the sidelines. Ryan Mason is expected to be fot for this clash, but the game will come too early for Abel Hernandez.
