Match facts

  • Leicester have lost three of their last five Premier League games.
  • As a result, the defending champions are only two points above the relegation zone.
  • Man City head into this fixture on the back of a 3-1 home loss to Chelsea in which Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho were sent off.
  • As a result, the Argentine and Brazilian won’t be available for the King Power Stadium trip. They will be joined by Nicolas Otamendi, who is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card last weekend.
  • The Citizens haven’t lost away to the Foxes in the Premier League. Their last away defeat came in March 1987.
  • Ranieri, though, has an impressive record vs. the Etihad side. He has won seven of his last eight meetings with Man City.
  • Man City have won all of their clashes against defending champions since March 2011.

Team news

Both teams need victory. Leicester are without a win in their last three Premier League games, and lost 5-0 in the Champions League; Man City risk losing further ground in the title race after their home defeat to Chelsea last Saturday.

However, the defending English Premier League champions will be welcoming back several star names that missed the trip to Portugal. The most important will be goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who has recovered from a fractured hand and looks to end more than one month of time on the sidelines.

Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and Andy King – all who sat out the midweek defeat – are expected to return to the squad. Wes Morgan and Robert Huth are tipped for starting eleven berths despite being present in the 5-0 loss, whilst Danny Drinkwater serves the last of his three-match suspension.

Pep Guardiola has been handed a huge boost, as Raheem Sterling looks fit for the King Power Stadium clash. Having missed out on the Chelsea game, he has now recovered from the injury he picked up at Burnley.

Yaya Toure could return to the starting eleven, as Man City are without Fernandinho. The Brazilian was sent off in the Blues defeat, and will join Sergio Aguero – also red carded.
