Team news

Australia

Simply put, it's been smooth sailing for Australia thus far. The Socceroos strolled through the second round of qualifying without much fuss. Save for a surprise 2-0 reveral against Jordan, Angelos Postecoglou's men had no trouble firing in the goals as they netted a whopping 25 whilst conceding a measly four.

Having guided Australia to their first ever AFC title by beating regional powerhouse South Korea, Postegoclou - who is the first Greek tactician to clinch the cup - will be looking to start off this round on the right footing. Star attacker Tim Cahill, who at 36 is still going strong, will be again tasked with leading the line as Australia seek to ultimately book their spot at their fourth consecutive World Cup in less than two years' time.

Iraq

Meanwhile, Iraq are looking to qualify for their first World Cup since 1986. To date, that has been the first - and last - time the team have featured in the quadrennial tournament. Nicknamed the "Lions of Mesopotamia", the war-torn nation finished second behind Thailand in their group with a solid three wins and three draws. Of course, Australia will represent a much stiffer challenge for Radhi Shenaishil's men, but having made it this far, they nonetheless will be hoping to pull off what would be a surprise upset.
