After Thursday's UEFA gala, in which the Groups for the UEFA Champions League were revealed, the Portuguese player was voted as the Player of the Year, beating Antoine Griezmann and team-mate Gareth Bale to the prize. The former Manchester United striker won the award for the second time in his career, and became the first player ever to win the UEFA Euro, the UEFA Champions League title and the UEFA Super Cup in the same year.
