Just one year after Germany won their 4th World Cup title, things seem to have taken a wrong turn somewhere, and Joachim Löw and his men need to find the way back to how they were doing things before touching the Brazilian sky. With mixed results since their victory over Argentina, Germany travels to Gibraltar to try and win some points in order to reach the top of Group D.
With only one meeting against Gibraltar, Germany has to focus on getting better after a series of not so flattering results. A loss against the USA and a draw facing Australia have started the alarms for Löw, who already revealed that the starting lineup will be somehow changed.
"In some respects, we have to reinvent ourselves, other teams have adapted to us. The games against Australia and the United States have showed that pressing us early is a way of making things difficult for us. We have to improve our counterattacks, our game in the final third of the pitch, the decisive pass and the finishing," Löw analyzed.
Gibraltar is not expected to upset the heavily favored Germans, but if they can score a goal against the World Champions, it will surely count as a victory for the "newest" contender in European football. This Euro Qualifiers have been the team's fire baptism, and the game against the Germans could give them a chance to show what they have learned so far.
