Since this summer, Carlos Tevez is Manchester City’s new captain as ex-skipper Kolo Toure has to be content with his present vice-captain role. However, the defender has insisted that he deals very well with this issue.

“The boss came to see me at the start of the season. He told me he had a difficult decision to make. He broke the news that he’d be making Carlos Tevez captain, so that he [Tevez] would become a lot more involved with the squad.

“He even quoted the example of Diego Maradona at Napoli, who worked wonders once he had been appointed their captain. I told him that it wasn’t a problem. I accepted his decision.

 

“I am not more important than the team and I think that the decision was taken for the benefit of Manchester City.”

The Sky Blues will resume their English Premier League campaign under the leadership of Carlos Tevez this weekend. Manchester City will host Blackburn Rovers at the City of Manchester Stadium, hoping to continue what the started in their fortress when they thrashed Liverpool 3-0 a few weeks ago. Manchester City are 9th in the English Premier League going into match-day four of the competition.
