After historic teams such as Manchester United and Arsenal were eliminated from the competition, defending Premier League Champions Manchester City faced the challeng of not following that sort of destiny. Today, Manuel Pellegrini´s crew proved they won't go down without a fight, showing all their class against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls managed to endure the Citizens' pressure for only forty-five minutes. After the break, It took Manchester City just two minutes to go ahead in the scoreboard with Frank Lampard's second goal in a four day span. Edin Dzeko and Jesus Navas scored within the next five minutes, making room for Manchester City to relax.
Yaya Toure added his name to the scorer list with a penalty kick after sixty minutes, then Edin Dzeko managed to score his second goal of the evening. Eleven minutes later, Pozo scored the sixth goal for the Citizens, before Frank Lampard scored again to end the evening for Pellegrini's men.
