RAI Italia Africa is part of the international television service operated by RAI Internazionale. The first subsidiary of this channel was launched on January 1, 1992 and operates under four localized feeds: RAI Italia America, RAI Italia Asia, RAI Italia Africa, and RAI Italia Australia. Even if it is an international feed aired all over the world, all of RAI Italia’s channels broadcast their content in Italian language.
RAI Italia targets Italian expatriates, citizens of Italian descent and non-Italians that are interested in the country’s culture and language. Over the years, the channel has crafted a mix of general interest programs to show in each region of the world it serves. In the past, RAI Italia Africa has aired discussion-based shows, drama programs, documentaries, current affairs programs, news broadcasts, and more.
Speaking about sports, RAI Italia Africa has frequently aired up to four football matches for the Italian Serie A in all the territories where it is available. However, some of its programming could be under geographical restrictions. The channel has also provided additional sports coverage via highlights shows and sports talk shows.
