Telenet has acquired non-exclusive UEFA Champions League linear and digital rights in Belgium from 2024 to 2027. The pay-TV broadcaster has joint broadcast rights to Champions League matches played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays alongside fellow subscription-based provider Proximus. Telenet subscribers can watch live Champions League games with Dutch-language commentary on the network’s Play Sports TV channel.
More details Live and on-demand streaming in Belgium is also available via Telenet’s corresponding app, Telenet TV, accessible via mobile phones, smart TVs, tablets, computers, and other devices.

Viewers have several options in terms of subscription packages, including a monthly pay-as-you-go plan or a day pass that will grant access to all sports, including the Champions League and other UEFA competitions taking place for 24 hours. Additional Champions League-related content on Telenet’s linear and digital platforms includes match analysis, game highlights, interviews, behind-the-scenes coverage, and documentaries.
Telenet has maintained their exclusive broadcast rights to the English Premier League in Belgium after renewing their current contract for another three years beyond 2022. The new deal now extends Telenet’s access to top-flight English football until the conclusion of the 2024/2025 Premier League season.
More details Viewers will be able to follow Dutch-language coverage of the Premier League via Telenet’s family of channels, Play Sports, whilst live streaming will be available using the network’s corresponding app, Play Sports Open.
Telenet-owned Play Sports has arranged a sublicense deal for Spain's La Liga from Eleven Sports. This agreement enables Play Sports to broadcast select La Liga matches to its audience in Belgium. The sublicense is part of a broader partnership between Play Sports and Eleven Sports, enhancing Play Sports' existing lineup of football coverage from various leagues.

About

Play Sports history, coverage, features

Play Sports is a package of television channels partly owned and operated by the Belgian cable distributor Telenet. It was launched in 2005 as Prime Sport, but it would later be rebranded to Sporting Telenet. The service would go through another rebranding in 2012 when Play Sports was elected by its parent company.

Over the years, Play Sports has turned into a household name for sports coverage in Belgium, thanks to the availability of bundles in most pay-tv companies. Each package comes with different channels, which will be in charge of covering different disciplines. Some of the sports covered by this platform have included football, basketball, golf, motorsport, cyclocross, tennis, hockey, and more.

Speaking about football, Play Sports has covered leagues such as the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, the MLS, the English Premier League, the Eredivisie, the German Bundesliga, the Spanish Primera División, the Italian Serie A, and domestic tournaments such as the Spanish Copa del Rey. Added to that, games for the UEFA Europa League have also been available on this service. Notice that not all leagues are available on all subscription bundles and pay-tv companies.

Play Sports started airing its content in Standard Definition, but the company managed to transition its entire offer of channels to High-Definition technology in the 2016-17 season. This saw Play Sports becoming the first sports package to make such a transition in Belgium.
