In what would be a repeat of the 2015 final, and a chance at revenge for La Pulga and Co., both La Albiceleste and La Roja appear destined to meet once again in the ultimate game.

The odds seem to favor this scenario. It has probably already dawned on all those following Copa America Centenario, currently underway in the United States. With Chile set to face off with Colombia in the semi-finals, and Argentina gearing up for a battle with USMNT, another Chile vs Argentina final is on the horizon.

Although there still remains the issue of two last 4 clashes to be played, La Roja and La Albiceleste are favorites to emerge victorious in their respective clashes. Gerardo Martino’s men will clash with the hosts, entering game having only conceded one goal so far and scoring 14 (joint-top with – you guessed it – Chile).

FIFA’s number one ranked national side will look to captain Lionel Messi – alongside fellow stars Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, etc – to lead Argentina into the final. One could be forgiven for putting money on Leo and Co. progressing, given that La Pulga has never lost a semi-final game with the national side (3 games, 3 wins).

Messi became Argentina's joint-top all-time leading goalscorer with Batistuta (54 goals)

Reigning champions Chile bounced back from an opening game defeat to none other than Argentina, but bounced back with three wins out of three, scoring 14 goals along the way. A Vidal-less Chile will head into the semis on the back of a 7-0 thrashing of Mexico, a score line which will definitely have Juan Antonio Pizzi’s boys beaming with confidence.

Should Argentina and Chile meet in the ultimate game once more, Messi and his team-mates will be keen on inflicting revenge in what would be their third consecutive major final. The heartbreaking defeat to Chile on penalties in 2015 will be fresh on their minds, but history has shown that a dream revenge doesn’t always come true – just look at the recent Champions League final between Real and Atletico Madrid.

Regardless, the odds appear to back a repeat of the 2015 final. A win for both Argentina and Chile, and La Pulga and Co. will have a golden opportunity to dish out payback.
