About
V Sport 1 Norway history, coverage, features
V Sport 1 is a Norwegian television channel owned and operated by the Nordic Entertainment Group. The channel was launched on October 17, 2008 under the name Viasat Sport. That name would last for 9 years, when all the channels in the network were rebranded to ViaSport. And in 2020, all the channels would once again change their name, with V Sport being their new handle. V Sport 1 is part of the V Sport family network, which includes V Sport 2, V Sport 3, V Sport +, and V Sport Golf.
Over the years, V Sport 1 has been considered as the flagship channel for V Sport in Norway. Usually, the most relevant live sports events have been aired on this channel, leaving its sister networks as overflow options. The sports that have been covered by this network have included football, American football, motorsports, boxing, cycling, ice hockey, and even e-sports.
Speaking about football, V Sport 1 has covered competitions from different countries, including the Spanish Primera División, the French Ligue 1, the German Bundesliga, the English Premier League, the Dutch Eredivisie, or the FA Cup. Added to that, the channel has also covered the most relevant games in the UEFA Champions League. When it comes to National team football, the channel has covered games for the FIFA Women’s World Cup and Copa América matches.
V Sport 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was developed and launched in the early 2010s. Both feeds may still be available to watch in certain regions of the country.
