About TV6 Sweden
TV6 is a Swedish television channel owned and operated by the Nordic Entertainment Group. The channel was launched as a pay-tv channel on May 9, 2006 under the name ZTV. While the channel only broadcasts content to Swedish households, the channel’s headquarters are located in London, so the channel is not required to follow certain rules about advertising in Sweden.
Over the years, TV6 has been labeled as a general entertainment channel, with reality shows, sitcoms, movies, action programs, sci-fi shows and sports being some of the topics covered by the network. In fact, sports broadcasts have often provided the highest rating numbers for the channel throughout its history.
Speaking about sports, the channel has frequently aired high-profile competitions from disciplines such as football, ice hockey, handball, and motorsports, particularly Formula 1 races. When it comes to football, TV6 has aired UEFA Champions League games, among other notable competitions. In fact, the 2006 UEFA Champions League final gave the channel one of the highest ratings in the network’s history.
TV6 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was developed and launched during the early 2010s. The High-Definition feed has been made available in most pay-tv carriers, but a downscaled version of the HD feed is available for users who do not have access to that sort of technology.
