About Sportsnet Ontario
Sportsnet is an English-language sports channel operating in Canada. It is owned by Rogers Media and it held its first broadcast on October 9, 1998. Sportsnet is considered one of the top sports channels in Canada, with over 8 million homes in Canada being able to watch its feed.
Sportsnet has evolved into four different regional feeds, and it also has two more sister channels: Sportsnet One and Sportsnet World. Each feed has the capability of broadcasting its own content, but Sportsnet remains as the main source of live games and sports for this company. Sportsnet Ontario is one of those regional feeds.
Sportsnet Ontario provides services to most of that region in Canada, with the only exception being the Eastern side of Ontario. The channel was initially named CTV Sportsnet Ontario, and it was later rebranded as Rogers Sportsnet Ontario. Eventually, the channel would change its name as it stands in 2007.
Sportsnet Ontario has broadcast some of the network’s top properties, such as the Toronto Blue Jays (MLB), the Toronto Raptors (NBA) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL).
Sportsnet Ontario broadcasts all its shows in HD, although a SD feed is available in select pay-tv carriers. The HD feed for this channel was launched on January 26, 2009.
