About
Sportklub 1 Croatia History, Coverage, Features
SportKlub is a pay-tv sports channel owned and operated by The United Group. The channel was launched in former Yugoslavian countries on January 2, 2006, and it finally saw the light in Croatia back in 2007, quickly becoming one of the most-watched channels in Croatian television.
Over the years, SportKlub has aired a wide variety of disciplines, which have included football, basketball, tennis, motorsports, American football, ice hockey, volleyball, handball, athletics, golf, and more. The network has been forced to add more channels to its offer in order to cover the wide variety of broadcasting rights they have purchased.
Speaking about football, SportKlub 1 is frequently used to air some of the most relevant content for this sport in Croatia. The channel has covered domestic leagues such as the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga, the Russian Premier League, the Eredivisie, the Turkish Super Lig, the Ukrainian Premier League, the Austrian Bundesliga, the Greek Super League, the Danish Superliga, the Swedish Allsvenskan, the Japanese J1 League, and even Latin American tournaments such as the Mexican Liga MX or the Colombian Primera A. Added to those, the network has also covered lower-tier football from leagues such as the Italian Serie B, the German 2.Bundesliga, or the English Championship, the League One, or League Two tournaments. International club competitions such as the CONCACAF Champions League, the AFC Champions League, or the CAF Champions League have also been covered by SportKlub’s channels.
European cup tournaments have also found airtime on SportKlub 1 throughout the years, with competitions such as the FA Cup, the Turkish Cup, the DFL Super Cup, the FA Community Shield, and the Ukrainian Cup being some of the tournaments aired on SportKlub 1.
National team football has also been available on SportKlub 1, with the UEFA Nations League, the UEFA WC Qualifiers, the CONMEBOL WC Qualifiers, and the CONCACAF WC Qualifiers all being available to be watched live on this channel. Additional content such as highlights, sports documentaries and sports news may also be found on this channel frequently.
SportKlub 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed saw the light in 2013 as part of a major overhaul and a new graphic image. The channel may also be available in countries such as Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, although their programming might be slightly different than the one aired in Croatia.
